Pizza and Politics Pizza and Politics is an innovative format that aims to bring politics and current events closer to young people. Organized in collaboration with the Festival of Diplomacy and the Hanns Seidel Foundation, this project was created to engage the younger generation in an active conversation about contemporary political and social issues. The idea is to go beyond traditional formalities, creating an informal and convivial atmosphere, just like a chat among friends over pizza. The main goal of the initiative is to offer participants the opportunity to engage with experts in the field, from various spheres of the political, diplomatic and cultural landscape. During the meetings, young people can express their ideas, ask questions, and explore topical issues in an inclusive and dynamic setting. Pizza and Politics is not just an event, but an experience that aims to stimulate critical thinking, encouraging dialogue and the active participation of young people in public life. • State Council | Assoc. Amici LVF

1987 - 2000 State Council In 1987, having returned permanently to Rome, Luigi Vittorio after a full 35 years decided to leave his diplomatic career in order to return to university teaching. He was appointed State Councillor, a post he held from 1987 to 2000, the year when his retirement due to age limits took place. Luigi Vittorio devoted himself to his last post with his usual professionalism and dedication. At the end of this period he was awarded the honorary title of Section President and, after 2000, he was assigned the presidency of arbitration panels and a Commission at Consip. The Foreign Ministry entrusted him with the leadership of OSCE delegations to Warsaw and Berlin during Italy's six-month European presidency in 1996 and 2003; it also entrusted him with missions to the Balkans and Albania in 1997 and a seminar in Moscow in 1995. On the initiative of Chief of Cabinet Aragona he was appointed Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs in the first half of 1996 (Prime Minister Lamberto Dini and Foreign Minister Susanna Agnelli) with an intense activity of missions to EU member countries and Brussels, a period on which there is a report by him. In addition, Luigi Vittorio was a member of the committee for promotion to Legation Councillor in 1997; of the Board of Trustees of the United College of Trieste from 1997 to 1999; of the Committee for the Selection of Fellows of the University Institute (EUI) of Fiesole from 1997 to 2001; Chairman of the Selection Committee for the European College of Bruges from 2001 to 2013; and Chairman of the Prunas Mutual Fund from 2005 to 2014.

  • The German Period | Assoc. Amici LVF

1980 - 1987 The German Period After the Partenopean interlude, Secretary General Malfatti decided for him for the far more important Embassy in Bonn. Luigi Vittorio and his wife Giovanna arrived in Bonn, on January 14, 1980, by train from Frankfurt (an original choice, to say the least) with the Intercity “Germania” and the Station Chief in full uniform waiting on the platform together with the Foreign Ceremonial and the Embassy's diplomatic staff! From 1980 to 1987 Luigi Vittorio, Ambassador in Bonn, travels all over the territory with very frequent visits everywhere, and talks with all the Länder Presidents, local personalities, many Mayors, and many important cultural institutes, such as the Bertelsmann Stiftung or the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung. He frequently visits and lectures at almost all universities, where he is received with special attention especially because Herr Professor und Kollege, is the only Italian member of the Association of University Professors. He makes intensive political contacts there and also with political figures from Italy. Significant is his insertion into German politics and with frequent appearances on television and radio programs and very frequent interviews in newspapers as well as countless contributions to collected books (over a hundred) where his signature is sought after and appreciated. Indeed, he is a sought-after commentator and thus many speeches and lectures with continuous participation in the activities of cultural institutions, from Europa Union to Aspen or Koerner Stiftung or Bertelsmann Stiftung, as well as as an honored speaker in many important German institutions and press, radio and television interviews and frequent participation in talk-shows, for which he is a sought-after guest. He ensures his presence at fairs of all kinds with much appreciation from Italian exhibitors. After all, thanks to the prestige he acquired, such activity would continue even after he ceased to serve as Ambassador for a large part of the 1990s. From that period there are also numerous articles in political and scientific journals. Particular attention is paid to the communities of Italians, which he visits frequently and with personal success, especially in Wolfsburg, a city symbolic of the presence of Italian workers in Germany. He manages to establish direct contact with Italian communities no longer mediated by politicized organizations, which are considered unrepresentative. For the same reason he opposed the establishment of elected workers' committees, considering them useless, something that would find confirmation in the facts after his departure from Germany. A 'successful activity remembered even after many decades is summarized in a book of his in German, “Wenn schon denn schon,” which sold over ten thousand copies. On December 1, 1988, the book was presented in Bonn by Foreign Minister Genscher, an unusual recognition, and also cited by former Chancellors Schmidt and Kohl.

In questo appuntamento di Coraggio! abbiamo parlato di “Donne in Vaticano” per riflettere sul ruolo attivo e spesso poco visibile delle donne presso la Santa Sede. Coraggio! Ethics and Artificial Intelligence Monday, 11 November, 2024 Six Senses Hotel - Rome Moderated by Marlis Morganti of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, the event featured Tiziana Catarci, Director of the Department of Computer, Automatic and Management Engineering. The meeting was a unique opportunity to explore the topic of artificial intelligence, with an in-depth look at its risks and benefits. Tiziana Catarci offered stimulating insights and future perspectives on ethics in the use of technology, emphasizing the need for a conscious and responsible approach. Coraggio! is a series of meetings focused on cross-cutting issues of great relevance, involving a network of women ready to confront and support each other. We want awareness of women's value and courage not to remain an isolated event, but to radiate into society as a whole, so that gender distinction becomes secondary to the individual.
